Degen mode
Opt in to trade any token on Base. High risk, always with your approval.
Degen mode lets your agent trade tokens nobody has vetted. Unvetted tokens can be scams, honeypots or rug pulls, liquidity can vanish in minutes, and you can lose everything you put in. Only trade what you can afford to lose completely.
By default museli only touches four vetted tokens: ETH, USDC, cbBTC and EURC. Degen mode is an off-by-default switch in your Guardrails that lets you, and Muse on your behalf, buy and sell any token on Base in plain words: "buy $5 of doginme", "ape 0.01 ETH into KEYCAT", "sell half my TOSHI", or paste a contract address.
How it works
- 1Claude reads your request
A language model (Anthropic's Claude) turns your words into a strict trade shape: buy or sell, which token, how much. It only ever parses text. It never builds or signs transactions.
- 2museli finds the token
The token name is resolved on DexScreener to a Base contract address, picking the deepest pool. The plan shows the address and the pool's liquidity so you can check it before approving. Pasting a contract address skips the search.
- 3The same machinery runs the trade
The swap is quoted and routed through the audited KyberSwap router, the same one as normal swaps, with slippage capped at 2.5%. Your daily cap and per-trade cap still apply.
- 4You approve, always
Every degen trade waits for your yes, every time: in the app, or in Muse if you allowed approvals there. There is no way to make degen trades run silently.
What degen mode does not change
- Transfers stay blocked. Funds only move between your wallet and the KyberSwap router. No token or contract can receive a direct transfer from your wallet.
- The contract allowlist holds. A degen trade adds exactly one contract to the allowed targets: the token you are trading, and only for its approval. Everything else is refused before signing.
- Caps still bind. Degen trades count against your daily cap and per-trade cap like any other action.
- Off by default, off in one click. Turn it off in Guardrails and museli goes back to the four vetted tokens instantly.
Your degen settings
When degen mode is on, extra controls appear in Guardrails. They screen every buy against live DexScreener data before it can even ask for your approval. Sells are never screened: you can always exit a position.
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Max slippage | 2.5% | How far the price can move against you before the swap reverts. Raise it for very thin pools, but everything you allow can be lost to the price moving. |
| Max gas price | 0 (off) | Blocks trades when Base gas is above your limit in gwei. Base normally runs far below 0.1 gwei, so 0.5 is already a generous ceiling. |
| Min liquidity | $10k | Blocks buys of tokens with less pooled money than this. Thin pools mean brutal price impact and a hard exit. |
| Min 24h volume | $5k | Blocks tokens nobody traded today. A pool with liquidity but no volume is a common rug setup. |
| Min market cap | $50k | Blocks micro caps, where a single seller can wipe the price. Set 0 to turn the check off. |
| Max market cap | 0 (off) | For small-cap hunting: block anything above this size. Most people leave it off. |
Higher minimums mean fewer scams get through and less upside on brand-new tokens. If you mostly ape established memecoins, try min liquidity $50k, min volume $25k, min market cap $250k. If you hunt fresh launches, you are choosing to turn the screens down: understand that most fresh launches go to zero.
What can still go wrong
- Honeypots let you buy but never sell. museli shows pool liquidity, but a contract can block sells in ways nobody can see up front.
- Rug pulls drain a pool after you buy. The token stays in your wallet, worth nothing.
- Thin liquidity means the 2.5% slippage cap can make your trade fail, or your exit can move the price against you.
- Wrong token match. Popular names get impersonated. Check the contract address in the plan against the project's official links before approving.
Muse plans degen trades through the same pipeline and they always come back as needs-approval. If you have not allowed approvals inside Muse, they wait for you in the museli app.
